After catching the eye of historic Scotland’s buyer, independent jewellery designer/maker Rachel Helen Designs now has her creations selling in Edinburgh Castle’s brand new gift shop.

Rachel has put together a collection of pieces from her Juniper Tree collection, which is inspired by fairy tales and the darker side of nature, it is completely bespoke and is crafted by combining vintage and recycled jewellery.

The collection also caught the eye of the British Museum and Rachel was asked to create a series of designs to be sold alongside Grayson Perry’s exhibition; The Tomb of the unknown Craftsman, which ran from November 2011 – February 2012.

“It’s a complete honour to be asked to create pieces for these prestigious locations, the Juniper Tree collection has a historical feel, each piece is made from unwanted or damaged vintage jewellery which I carefully take apart and re work to create new pieces, so everything in the collection is recycled, reused and one of a kind.”

Rachel’s collection for Edinburgh Castle features distinctive purple cameos mixed with vintage materials to create bracelets, pendants and brooches.
